In the following lists of exhibitions held at various venues - Hyde Park Corner - Equity House Fox Street - Victory House Harrison Street, Johannesburg, as well as 13a Grafton Street, London W1, the names of black artists have been highlighted for research purposes.

The staff of Gallery 21 Hyde Park included at various times in support of Caroline Haenggi: Nicky MacArthur, Di Newman, Glenda Levin, Connie Day, Chris and Steven Ditshilwane - the latter started work in 1972 and stayed with the Haenggi's until 1993!

The rapid expansion of Gallery 21's operations - the publishing of original graphics, the publication of art books, participation at the ART Fairs in Basel, and the opening of a branch gallery in London in 1974, all within a short time, occurred at an internationally unfortunate economic time. The gallery's private financiers and SA bankers withdrew their support and the business had to close by the end of 1976.

Fernand F. Haenggi, however, soon found premises in Johannesburg's financial centre, and through the family owned business of Galrand Holdings (Pty) Ltd., trading as Gallery 21, he henceforth continued presenting mainly SA art. To see details of exhibitions held in the Johannesburg city centre between 1977 and 1993, see Gallery 21 Johannesburg (1977-1993), or first carry on with the London operations as under.

Gallery 21 London Ltd. had started at a difficult time. Its manageress was Priska Aves, joined later by Jeanne le Bars and Candy Cochrane; Dan Cornwall Jones assisted during April to July, 1975. Christine Lannon was the gallery's initial P.R.O. (1974).

As no further finance was forthcoming from its SA directors and SA private backers, the London venture ceased with effect 23rd March, 1976.
